The Barracuda is a ray-finned fish known for
its large size, fearsome appearance and furious behavior. They can be found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide ranging from the Eastern border of the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea and Caribbean Sea. They are found near
the top of the water and near coral reefs and
sea grasses.

Snake-like in appearance, with prominent, sharp-edged, fang-like teeth, much like piranhas, all of different sizes, set in sockets of their large jaws. They have large, pointed heads with an underbite in many species.

Alex came down to go out on his first fishing charter trip last year. He had been pond and lake fishing, but never out on the open ocean. The sun was beating down and poor Alex was learning to get his sea-legs (the Gulf of Mexico is a little different than the mill pond back home.) So after
a morning of no luck, Alex downed some lunch and got right back up and threw his line back out there. A few minutes later, he saw a flash of silver and felt the pull on his line. It didn’t take long and Alex bagged his first big-time fish - a foot and a half barracuda! Nice job, Alex!
